How to convert WhatsApp inquiries into orders

What does a typical WhatsApp inquiry actually look like?
Usually short and to the point: "is this available," "how much," or a photo of a product paired with a question mark and little else attached to it. The customer has already decided they are somewhat interested before ever messaging in the first place, since asking a specific question about a specific item takes more effort than simply scrolling past a post without engaging at all. That means the reply does not need to sell the product from scratch as though starting the conversation cold, it needs to confirm the details that would otherwise stop them from buying outright: availability right now at this moment, total price including delivery stated as one number, and how long delivery actually takes to reach their particular area of the country.
Why does an inquiry stall after being answered?
Because answering the question completes the customer's immediate goal for that specific message, and without a next step offered clearly and directly, the conversation has nowhere obvious to go from there on its own. A reply that says "yes it's available, 3500 DA with delivery" and stops there leaves the customer to initiate the next move entirely on their own initiative, and many simply will not follow through, not necessarily because they lost interest but because the path to actually ordering was never made obvious to them within the reply itself. The fix is ending every single answer with a direct prompt attached: "want me to note your name and address to get this shipped out to you."
What information do you actually need to move from inquiry to order?
| Detail | Why it is needed now, not later |
|---|---|
| Full name | Needed on the parcel and for confirmation |
| Phone number | Primary contact for confirmation and delivery |
| Wilaya and commune | Determines delivery pricing and carrier coverage |
| Specific address detail | Needed for the driver to find the door |
Asking for all four pieces in one single message, rather than trickling the questions out one at a time across several separate exchanges over many minutes, keeps the whole conversation moving forward and reduces the number of round trips needed before an order actually exists in your system as a real, fully recorded entry ready for confirmation.
What should you do when the answer to their question is bad news?
If the product is out of stock entirely or does not deliver to their commune at all, say so directly and offer an alternative immediately in the same message if one genuinely exists, rather than going quiet or delaying the answer in the hope the situation somehow resolves itself before the customer notices the silence. A customer told clearly and promptly that something is unavailable, with a suggested alternative offered right there in the same reply, converts at a meaningfully higher rate on that alternative than one left waiting for a reply that never comes because the honest answer felt awkward or disappointing to give in the moment.
How do you know if your inquiry-to-order conversion is actually working?
Track it as its own dedicated number: inquiries that received a complete answer divided by inquiries that eventually became a placed order, measured over a defined period of time each week. If that number is low despite fast, accurate answers already being sent out consistently, the gap is very likely sitting in how the conversation transitions from answer to ask, not in the underlying quality of the answer itself. Reviewing a handful of actual chat threads that stalled right after the answer was given, rather than only looking at the aggregate rate on a dashboard somewhere, usually shows the exact point where the conversation lost its momentum and never quite recovered from it afterward.
How EverCore handles this
EverCore answers product, price, stock and delivery questions on WhatsApp the moment they arrive, then collects name, phone and address once the customer is convinced. A lead that stops replying gets one nudge before the thread closes. See how EverCore's WhatsApp lead conversion automation turns inbound questions into confirmed COD orders.
