What’s the difference between a quantity offer and an upsell?
A quantity offer sells more of the same product: the buyer picks 1, 2 or 3 units, and the larger options come with a better price.
An upsell adds something else to the order: a second product, or an extra such as fast shipping. The buyer ticks it above the order button.
Both happen on the COD Form, before the buyer confirms, so the larger order is created in Shopify as one order with one delivery.
How do quantity offers work?
You set the tiers, such as “buy 2, buy 3”, and the discount for each:
- Percentage off, for example 15% off for 2.
- Fixed amount off, for example 500 DA off for 2.
- Fixed total price, for example 2 for 5,000 DA.
Show them as cards in one of three templates, Classic, Modern or Vertical, and add a badge such as “Most popular” to the tier you want to push.
How do upsells work?
An upsell is a line the buyer ticks just above the order button. It can be:
- Another product, at a discount if you like. A refill, an accessory, a second colour.
- A custom line, such as shipping protection or fast shipping.
Keep it to one or two lines that make sense with the main product. A long list above the order button gets in the way of the order.
How do you choose offers for cash on delivery?
With COD, every order is one delivery, whatever is in the box. A second unit or an accessory in the same parcel adds revenue without adding a second delivery fee, which is why quantity offers suit COD so well.
A few habits that help:
- Put the badge on the tier you want most buyers to pick, usually the 2-unit offer.
- Show the saving in your buyer’s terms: a percentage on the card, a fixed total in dinars.
- Price so the bigger tiers still cover your delivery and returns. A refused 3-unit order costs more than a refused single.
How do you know offers are working?
COD Analytics shows your average order value next to conversion rate, confirmed orders and revenue. Compare the average order value before and after you add an offer, over the same number of days.
What don’t EverCore’s offers do?
EverCore’s upsells happen on the form, before the order is placed. There are no post-purchase or one-click upsells after the order, no downsells and no A/B testing of offers. If you need those, apps such as Releasit list them; our Releasit comparison has the details.
